As you may have gathered from Rob's piece on the homepage, The original lineup of the Shipwreckers (Peter, Rob and Luke) has reconjured itself and is preparing to play some shows and, record a new CD. We'll be adding another guitar and some other instruments so drop us a line if you're interested.\
Our amazing friend Greg Scott passed away last tuesday (9.9.03). Greg, Peter and Jacques Cohen were longtime bandmates in Beg For Eden and Hydra. He was a unique, funny and brillant person and will be missed very much, but will live on in those who knew him. <Read more> Research and exploration is sexy....so the Shipwreckers are taking break from public spectacle to overhaul engines, recalibrate navigational instruments, patch sails, take on hands...you get the picture. We'll be back kicking out Existential Space Pop in the near future. Take Care. Be seeing you. Promise. Love,

So summer rolls on and after a busy Winter/Spring of shows, recording and CD releasing the band is trying to enjoy it. Rob is becoming the L. Armstrong of indie rock, Luke is working on some little project or other (like redesigning the Sistine Chapel...) and Peter is making a not so successful attempt at becoming a Coney Island Beach Bum. The Cassiopeia / Spectral Heart ep is shaping up to become a full length with Hail Mary Girl to be released as a 7 " single. (The song chose itself). If you are a record label or distributor who is interested, you can reach the band through the CONTACT page. Some interesting developments show wise for Sept./Oct. should be on the horizon, so please check back here again soon or sign up to the e-mail list. Get ready for fun. Be seeing you!

| 06.12.02 | Welcome to the
agile new Shipwreckers website. We hope you enjoy its elegant, aerodynamic
lines and its clarity. Think of it less as a website and more as a vacation
for the eyes. An elixir for the overheated brain...
The Shipwreckers are preparing for the upcoming June 15th show at Galapagos Art Space and look forward to seeing you there to help celebrate Luke and Peter's Birthdays (June 11th and June 21st respectively). The band has been continuing work on the Cassiopeia / Spectral Heart EP and has chosen to release Hail Mary Girl as a Single. (Actually it's more like the song chose itself....). If you are a record label or distributor who is interested, you can reach the band through the CONTACT page. Get ready for fun. Be seeing you! |

On the agenda for the evolving Existential Space Pop future, the band has begun recording it's next EP, tentatively entitled Cassiopeia / Spectral Heart and a 7-inch single which will be released in summer and Fall of 2002 respectively, followed shortly thereafter by a tour of New England and the South hopefully... |

Ipcress f changes name to: The Shipwreckers One cold day in December of last year, after a blistering practice, the band sat down at the Brooklyn Ale House and decided a new band name was needed to reflect the exciting evolution in sound and identity. A few ideas were thrown around, laughed at...but one idea became quickly taken up and agreed upon, the name you see above; The Shipwreckers. It's inspiration is twofold, one is the practice known as wrecking, which involves exploring the beached ruined hulls of old ships for lost treasures (or good pieces of wood for sculpture) and the other is a haunting, surreal story entitled The Shipbreakers found in the August 2000 issue of The Atlantic Monthly and written by William Langewiesche. |
